Arrival at the airport in Commodoro Rivadavia. Transfer to a basic Hotel
in Sarmiento. Transfer time is about 2 hours.
All rooms have hot water and there is a restaurant based in the Hotel.
day 2
Today we will visit the patrified forests of sarmiento. Erosion has washed
awy the couver of trees that are milions of years old. But beside this we
have the chance to see the paracees.
day 3
Today we will move 750km southwards to Puerto Deseado. We will stay
in a nice Hotel above the river.
This is the start point for our excursion to the river. Along the river there
are various species of birds to observe. One highlight will be our stay
at Bird island in the middle of the river. 60.000 magellanic penguins are
breading here as well as kelp gulls, Guano cormorants and oystercatcher.
Bird lovers will be very happy here as there are 136 bird species to
observe. One of them is the wonderfull and rare gray cormorant. These
animals nest in the cliffs along the River where Charkes Darwin ailed
already on his trip on the Beagle.
day 4
Today we axlore the river by boat. Various species will be observed.
day 5
Today we move to overnight in the kingdom of the birds. We have
planed to sleep in tents on penguiin Island. This Island is located 20 km
of the coast. Only animals do live here. This is the home of the rockhopper
penguin. In 2004 a total of 500 pairs came to bread on this island.
But also magelannic penguins are nesting here.
Our camp is very close to the penguins and only a few meters from
there Skua and gulls are nesting.
day 6
Today a visit to the cormoran Island is planed. We will see 25.000 Imperial
cormorants nesting, Rocl Shags nd Sheatbills. A real highlight for nature
lovers!
In the afternoon we will return to our Hotel in Puerto Deseado.
day 7
Today we leave for a 2 – 3 hours escursion along the river. With some
luck we might find Flamingos, swans, ducks and geesee in the Fjords.
day 8
Today we leave paradise to return to the real world. Transfer to the
airport in Comodoro Rivadavia.
